How Zova works

Two free parts, and you can use either one alone: an eligibility check that keeps nothing, and updates by text or email if you ask for them.

Two hands resting on a weekly pill organizer on a wooden table
  1. A woman at a kitchen table smiling as she holds a printed letter
    Step 1

    Read what studies ask

Every study lists who it can include and who it cannot. Zova sets out the common lines for six areas of health in plain words, so you know the shape of it before anything else.

  2. A hand writing notes in a ruled planner beside a cup of coffee
    Step 2

    Check yourself, privately

Answer eight short questions. Your answers turn into a sheet that shows which lines look simple for you and which ones to ask a study team about. Nothing is sent anywhere.

  3. A man in a cream sweater reading a message on his phone on a sofa
    Step 3

Hear when one opens near you

If you want, give us a ZIP code and one area of health. When a study nearby starts recruiting, Zova sends you a short text or email about it.

  4. A doctor in a white shirt talking with a patient across a desk with a blood pressure monitor on it
    Step 4

Talk to the study team yourself

If a study interests you, you contact its team directly. They explain it, ask their own questions and decide who can join. Zova is not part of that decision.

From a text to a study visit

  1. A text from ZovaIt names the kind of study and links to more. It does not sign you up for anything.
  2. You read the listingThe public listing gives the criteria, the sites and how to reach the study team.
  3. You call the teamBring your eligibility sheet. The coordinator asks screening questions and answers yours.
  4. A screening visitIf you both want to go on, the team checks the criteria in person and explains the consent form.
  5. Your decisionYou can say no at any point, before or after signing, and your usual care carries on.

What Zova does not do

Zova gives information and sends updates. These limits matter as much as anything above them.

  • Run studies, examine anyone or employ study doctors.

  • Give medical advice, or say whether a study is right for you.

  • Pass your details to a study team, sponsor or research site.

  • Decide, or influence, who a study accepts.

  • Charge you for anything.

Start with the check, or go straight to updates

Either works on its own, and neither asks for anything you have not chosen to give.
